Small Groups a Place to Belong

Our Fall Focus, One Month to Live, is coming to an end.  It’s been a huge success as I visit with small group participants and facilitators.  Thank you for your participation.

Many of our small groups will continue to meet.  Some meet through the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Other groups wait until the New Year (1010) to start up again. Our Sunday evening home groups often modify their schedule and shift from every week to meeting twice a month.  If you were unable to join a small group this fall but are interested now and/or have questions please contact Pastor Gary Esboldt, gary@fbcwillmar.org or 235-2326.

A popular TV show as I was growing up, that is still on TV, had an opening song describing a place were “everyone knows your name and they’re always glad you came.”  I wish the song was describing a church-our church- but unfortunately it is describing a bar.  However it could be describing FBC for many who are involved in a small group.  A small group is a place where everyone knows your name and they are glad when you arrive.

In Acts, a book in the New Testament, the first century church met in temple courts (Sunday morning worship) and in homes (small groups).  The reason we follow their example is not because of tradition but rather because it makes sense. There are over 50 times in the Bible where the words “ONE ANOTHER” appear together.  This phrase urges us to be closely involved with a few others in order that we might help each other become more like Christ.

Join a small group.  I guarantee it.  Money back guarantee if you are not fully satisfied at the end of the year.  Contact Pastor Gary Esboldt to join or if you have questions: gary@fbcwillmar.org or 235-2326.
